THE
NATIONS LEADING CARDIOLOGY-SPECIFIC ELECTRONIC CLINICAL
INFORMATION SYSTEM IMPLEMENTS VOICE RECOGNITION
INDIANAPOLIS
(March 7, 2003) Gateway Electronic Medical Management
Systems (GEMMS), developer of the nations first fully integrated,
cardiology-specific electronic clinical information system (ECIS),
announced it will implement a cardiology-specific voice recognition
module into its ECIS system.
Through
the integration of ScanSoft, Inc.s Medical Solutions software
into the ECIS system, GEMMS has created a true cardiology-specific
voice recognition solution that will further reduce the need for
transcription and improve the speed and efficiency of providing
appropriate and timely information.
We have based our entire ECIS system on the concept that
to be cardiology-specific and truly effective for the cardiologist,
the system must incorporate the cardiology medical knowledge base
and syntax into the system, explained Rodger P. Pinto, Ph.D.,
GEMMS chief executive officer. In the past this was not
possible with voice recognition. With the release of the new cardiology
syntax from Dragon ScanSoft VR product and the addition of the
new XP Pen services operating system from Microsoft, we now have
a platform that will allow voice recognition to be strategically
integrated into the CardioBranch program of the GEMMS ECIS system.
