Electronic Medical Management Systems (GEMMS) is an Indianapolis-based
firm that designs, implements and supports medical information solutions
specifically created for cardiovascular specialty medical practices.
GEMMS is the nation's first organization to develop and market an Electronic
Clinical Information System (ECIS) for cardiology practices. Through
ECIS, cardiology practices can integrate their clinical, fiscal and
management information into one system and manage a standard of care
throughout a group's entire network. Through this integration, practices
can save time and money, facilitate faster decision making, analyze
diagnostic testing results more efficiently, obtain greater access to
information, process prescriptions more efficiently, and deliver enhanced
patient care and health care solutions.
The
firm was founded in 1995 as a division of Indianapolis-based Nasser,
Smith & Pinkerton Cardiology (NSP), one of the nation's largest cardiology
practices. NSP wanted to fully "informationalize" the clinical portions
of its practice, and its 26 clinics and outreach facilities throughout
the state of Indiana served as the initial locations for the ECIS pilot
study.
GEMMS
began to market the ECIS product nationwide in 1999.
